Deep in the heart of Dixie, there’s a health crisis blazing. Alabama tops the nation in obesity, adult diabetes and hypertension. And worse, numbers indicate Alabamians think they eat right, even though diet-related chronic conditions in the state continue to grow, year after year.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama knew they needed to start a conversation around healthy eating with residents to help turn things around and inspire folks to make better food choices. We directly targeted the obesity epidemic with a social and digital campaign on a mission: to get residents healthier bite by bite without giving up what they love in a way that celebrated Alabama’s thriving food culture.

Chews Wisely Alabama is a cross-platform campaign designed to deliver engaging content across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, a monthly newsletter and a custom website. Recipe-driven solutions and healthy eating tips are tastefully served to followers with bite-sized stories that can be simply understood and easily shared.

Cooking up a partnership with Alabama’s Top Chef.

Winner and Fan Favorite of Top Chef Season 16, Kelsey Barnard Clark, was tapped to drive awareness of Chews Wisely Alabama and expand the campaign’s healthy eating mission with her unique Southern flavor and authentic Alabama content. We worked with Kelsey to curate valuable content and exciting recipes that would keep viewers tuning in…and hitting their weight loss goals.
